Motif Challenge part 3: Owl Second Draft

I started a motif challenge with pictorial motifs, chose an illustration, and made a rough draft of it.

This was not the best yarn choice I’ve ever made. Even in person you have to squint at it. Though the lace weight yarn makes an adorable swatch, about the size of my palm.  But dark tweedy yarn is not the best for stitch definition!

  • The tail looks long enough now.
  • The right side of the wings is nearer to a good proportion.
  • Using fewer diagonal purls for the feathers is going in the right direction.
  • The garter stitch branch did not work at all on the reverse stockinette ground.
  • The head is still too short.

Off to work on another iteration!
