Spellbound by Knitting in the Old Way

I was a page at the Public Library when I was in High School. That means I fetched magazines for patrons, put books back on the shelves, tidied messy shelves, and sometimes cut construction paper shapes out for the preschooler program.

One and only one time, I also brought the books from the book drop into the library for processing. Only once, because someone had returned Priscilla Gibson-Roberts’ Knitting in the Old Way, and I stood there like a statue reading it on the front lawn…while clocked in! My boss scolded me kindly and kept me on less tempting duties. People who work at libraries do tend to love books after all.

I don’t tend to used percentage systems for sleeve/neck/torso ratios these days, but a lot of my organizing sketches tend to subconsciously imitate PGR’s illustrations.
