{"id":109,"date":"2012-01-01T05:04:02","date_gmt":"2012-01-01T05:04:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/?p=109"},"modified":"2012-01-01T05:04:02","modified_gmt":"2012-01-01T05:04:02","slug":"interview-with-my-friend-elisabeth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/interview-with-my-friend-elisabeth\/","title":{"rendered":"Interview with My Friend Elisabeth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>circs or pins?<\/em><br \/>\nIs this for holding a place?\u00a0 I use plastic washers from Kathleen&#8217;s lab.<br \/>\nThey are colorful and just the right size.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nDpn or magic loop?<\/em><br \/>\nDouble pointed needles?\u00a0 That&#8217;s what I used to make socks.\u00a0 I used a set<br \/>\nof four and then added one more.\u00a0 I like using five needles best.<\/p>\n<p><em>English or Continental?<\/em><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t know what this means.<\/p>\n<p><em>Novelty yarn or classic plain?<\/em><br \/>\nNot sure about this either.\u00a0 I used some 100% wool that Kathleen gave me<br \/>\nwhen she visited one time.\u00a0 It was self patterning.\u00a0 One of the pairs of<br \/>\nsocks I made was kind of zany and my Mother in Law calls them my Dr. Suess<br \/>\nsocks.\u00a0 But, she doesn&#8217;t understand how nice it is to have a pair of wool<br \/>\nsocks that are not so thick you need to wear hiking boots so your feet<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t feel stuffed into your shoes.\u00a0 I love how warm they keep my feet &#8211;<br \/>\neven at the end of a long day, they are comfortable.\u00a0 Definitely my<br \/>\nfavorite socks.\u00a0 If I knew where to get more yarn like this, I would<br \/>\nabsolutely make myself another pair.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nSocks or Sweaters?<\/em><br \/>\nSocks, although I&#8217;ve thought of trying to make a sweater.\u00a0 It&#8217;s kind of<br \/>\ndaunting to me though.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nCrochet too?<\/em><br \/>\nYes!<\/p>\n<p><em>Process or FO?<\/em><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t know what this means.<\/p>\n<p><em>Garments or things that don&#8217;t have to fit anyone in particular?<\/em><br \/>\nI like useful, so I guess that means garments.\u00a0 Do socks count as garments?<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nShort Answer Questions (skip any that aren&#8217;t fun!)<\/p>\n<p>What is your usual process on a fiber project, for instance, do you<br \/>\nstart with a yarn, a cute pattern, a need you&#8217;ve noticed, something<br \/>\nexciting you saw in a movie you want to copy, or a technique you want to<br \/>\nlearn \u2013 then what do you do next and then what?<\/em><br \/>\nIt depends.\u00a0 With the socks I started with the yarn Kathleen gave me and<br \/>\nwith her telling me that nothing was so wonderful as home made wool socks.<br \/>\nShe showed me a new way to knit and we had fun laughing together on my<br \/>\nliving room floor an knitting away.\u00a0 So that was the motivation.\u00a0 Then<br \/>\nbecause I didn&#8217;t have anything else to do with the yarn she gave me, I<br \/>\nfinished the socks.\u00a0 Then I found out she was right &#8211; home made wool socks<br \/>\nrock!<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nDoes anything intimidate you in knitting or crochet?<\/em><br \/>\nPatterns and making something fits are intimidating.\u00a0 I have no idea how<br \/>\nto read a knitting pattern.\u00a0 I think I could do pretty much anything in<br \/>\ncrochet though.\u00a0 Dropping stitches in knitting is intimidating too.\u00a0 I<br \/>\nhate to realize that ten rows back, I dropped a stitch.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nWhen you want to learn something, do you look it up in a book, on<br \/>\nU-tube, or seek a real person to teach you?<\/em><br \/>\nI like the idea of a person teaching me, but in actuality, I&#8217;m more likely<br \/>\nto seek out a book because then I can go at my own pace.<\/p>\n<p><em>Any repetitive motion disorders due to knitting or crochet? How do you<br \/>\ndeal with them?<\/em><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t do it enough to have this problem.<\/p>\n<p><em>Do you frequent a particular yarn store?<\/em><br \/>\nNo.<\/p>\n<p><em>Do you usually finish things?\u00a0 If not, does it bother you?<\/em><br \/>\nYes.\u00a0 Well, I never finished that pink vest, but I usually do finish<br \/>\nthings.\u00a0 It does bother me to have things not finished.\u00a0 Perhaps that is<br \/>\nRich&#8217;s influence on me.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nWhat makes you buy a pattern (lovely photo, the story of the project, it<br \/>\nlooks do-able, it looks slightly challenging&#8230;)<\/em><br \/>\nI don&#8217;t buy patterns.<\/p>\n<p>What gives you the feeling that you got your money&#8217;s worth out of a<br \/>\npattern?<\/p>\n<p><em>What do you most enjoy about knitting or crochet?<\/em><br \/>\nI like that is practical.\u00a0 I like that it is portable.\u00a0 I like that you<br \/>\ncan pick it up and put it down and then pick it up again.\u00a0 It is the kind<br \/>\nof craft you can do with children running around.<\/p>\n<p><em>What are your crafting ambitions?<\/em><br \/>\nI like to make things that don&#8217;t look home made.<\/p>\n<p><em>Want to be interviewed?
