Since I need to be cabling on resting rows anyhow, I may as well be on the side to see them easily. The increase is named for the number<br \/>\nof stitches added, not the total number on<br \/>\nthe needles after the increases.<br \/>\nWith yarn in front, slip the stitches on the left<br \/>\nneedle onto the right needle.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you need an odd number of stitches increased, the technique is the same, you just stop at a different place:<\/p>\n<p>Christmas Tree Increase Purl (CTIp) odd<br \/>\nnumbered increase 3-stitch(CTI2), 5-stitch<br \/>\n(CTI4), 7-stitch (CTI6) and 9-stitch (CTI8)<br \/>\nversions<br \/>\nWith yarn in front, insert the right needle between<br \/>\nthe stitch you are increasing in and<br \/>\nthe stitch next to it from the back, purlwise.<br \/>\nYarn over draw up a stitch. *With yarn in<br \/>\nfront, slip the central stitch back to the right<br \/>\nneedle, insert the left needle into the stitch<br \/>\nyou just drew up from the back, purlwise,<br \/>\nyo, draw up a stitch. Without dropping the<br \/>\nstitch off the right needle, slip the central<br \/>\nstitch onto the left needle, Insert the needle<br \/>\nbetween the stitch you are increasing in, and<br \/>\none you drew up earlier, yarn over, draw up<br \/>\nloop.* Repeat from *to* x 0(1,2,3). 1 stitch<br \/>\nincreased to 4 (6,8,10) stitches.
