My daughter K wound up joining it in the middle, and has learned to chain, slip and single crochet.<\/p>\n<p>She has no interest in following patterns at the moment (well, reading hasn&#8217;t kicked in yet anyway, so that makes sense), but she is making up her own shapes, experimenting, and deciding what to do with the pieces later.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306630.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1948 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306630-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"K holding her crocheted bird by the kitchen window\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306630-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306630-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWe have only two problems: she has used up all my spare stash, and she is leaving snips of yarn all over the house. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306633.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1949 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306633-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"K's crocheted bird\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306633-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/S6306633-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But she now answers herself, &#8220;I can crochet!&#8221; whenever she declares, &#8220;I&#8217;m bored, what can I do?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/0416150913.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1947 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/0416150913-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"K crocheting on the train \" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/0416150913-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/0416150913-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/0416150913.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The other little girls have learned granny squares, wiggly worm bookmarks, or how to noodle around with a hook as they pleased.
