(skip any that aren&#8217;t fun!)<\/p>\n<p>What is your usual design process?<\/p>\n<p>I really like designing around a theme.\u00a0 I\u2019ll get an idea and think about it for a bit.\u00a0 If I stay excited about it, I start collecting images etc for mood boards, thinking about specific patterns, selecting a color palette, and then start investigating different yarn options.\u00a0 For my collections, I try to get a good mix of techniques and projects.<\/p>\n<p>Does anything intimidate you in knitting or crochet?<\/p>\n<p>Is it cocky to say not really?\u00a0 I\u2019ve always been what I consider a \u2018brave knitter\u2019.\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t mean my first attempts at something won\u2019t be bad \u2013 it\u2019s just that I\u2019m willing to try something, and keep at it til I do get better.\u00a0 My stranding, for example, is finally as the point I\u2019m not embarrassed to have it photographed!\u00a0 But it took some practice, with different techniques, to see what worked best for me for getting even tension and so on.<\/p>\n<p>When you want to learn something, do you look it up in a book, on U-tube, or seek a real person to teach you?<\/p>\n<p>I tend to go for books first, then tutorials and videos.<\/p>\n<p>Do you usually finish things?\u00a0 If not, does it bother you?<\/p>\n<p>Since I\u2019m now knitting as part of designing, if I don\u2019t finish a particular design, it\u2019s because it\u2019s not working for me for whatever reason.\u00a0 At that point, it needs to be let go, so I can put my efforts towards other designs.<\/p>\n<p>I do have some WIPs from before I started designing.\u00a0 A couple I\u2019ll eventually finish.\u00a0 I have a top down version of St Brigid WIP, but I want to redo the shaping, so though the body\u2019s finished, I\u2019ll be frogging it back to where I started decreasing for the waist.\u00a0 I have some socks I\u2019ve started that I\u2019ll probably just frog.<\/p>\n<p>Frogging doesn\u2019t bother me.\u00a0 In fact, sometimes it\u2019s cathartic.\u00a0 I guess having UFOs does bother me!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_215\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-215\" style=\"width: 742px\" first book is coming out really soon (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/sources\/california-revival-knits\">California Revival Knits<\/a>, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperativepress.com\/\">Cooperative Press<\/a>).\u00a0 I\u2019m at work on the second already, with a goal of getting it done in time for Summer 2013 TNNA.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d like to start teaching nationally \u2013 I\u2019m really excited about a mini class for indie designers that I\u2019m teaching at <a href=\"http:\/\/madronafiberarts.com\/\">Madrona<\/a> this year.\u00a0
