picot cast on"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Note from 7\/5\/17<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to edge a swatch with the single picot selvage, only to find that it had too many decreases! &nbsp;I&#8217;ve updated the goof today, sorry for that!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve explored <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/mary-thomass-picot-cast-on\/\">Mary Thomas&#8217; picot cast on<\/a>, my version of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/introducing-a-bind-off-like-mary-thomas-picot-cast-on\/\">a matching bind off<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/using-pictots-to-join-motifs\/\">using the picots to join motifs<\/a>.&nbsp; it&#8217;s easy to add the selvage.&nbsp; In fact, you can have a double selvage that exactly matches the picot cast on, and a single one that makes picots, but doesn&#8217;t match.&nbsp; (Because it&#8217;s fun to make choices?&nbsp; <em>Why yes, telling people what to do in a pattern instead of offering them choices does feel weird. &nbsp;I even have trouble giving directions instead of options when someone is driving and I am the one who knows how to get there.<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Double picot selvage:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Allow 4 extra stitches.<\/p>\n<p>Row 1: Yo, sl1, k1, psso, work to 2 sts from end.&nbsp; Picot Cast on and plan to continue up the sides with a double selvage, then do the smiling set up with the provisionally cast on stitches slipped onto the initial end and the last few stitches left on the needle as discussed in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/mary-thomass-picot-cast-on\/\"> the cast on post. <\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2309 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/smallerS6308293-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"smallerS6308293\" width=\"530\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/smallerS6308293-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/smallerS6308293-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/smallerS6308293-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unlike an i-cord corner, you do not need extra repeats to turn, your edges will probably flair (which will be taken care of later if you use the picots to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christineguestdesigns.com\/blog\/using-pictots-to-join-motifs\/\">join motifs.<\/a> &nbsp;
