This was my first ever lace shawl design, so I did a swatch to determine what needle size, I surprised myself with which I picked! Size 7 needles for me, but that’s because I knit crazy loose.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I wanted to know if the feathered decreases were important, and what would happen if I extended the purls all the way to the next diamond. Also, were two resting rows really necessary? That meant having to do decreases on the purl side unless I worked in the round.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The cast on warped in such a pretty way, I wondered if some color stripes would help me find the prettiest spot to cast on for an interesting edge. I wanted it to look like it had been swatched by Naomi Parkhurst or Hitomi Shida. I think it did help, but next time I’ll do every 4th row or something, this is too optical for comfort.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I hadn’t decided on a pattern in the round yet, so I wanted to know if the reverse of the fabric would look better with reverse stockinette diamonds.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
