Just how special was the Elemental Effects Cormo Worsted Yarn to work with?

Oh.  My.  This yarn is so bouncy and wonderful.  Alcyone is knit in it.

I was intrigued by Elemental Affects Cormo yarns when I read that the way the yarn was designed. The Cormo breed’s wool is already soft, long-staple and bouncy.  The yarn was designed with combing and hi twist spinning to show off those traits. When I read that it was also resistant to pills, I couldn’t wait to try it out.  I was not disappointed: it’s bouncy, it’s soft, and look at this stitch definition! Remind me in a year or two and I’ll let you know if there have been any pills.  It is a dense yarn, the sweater feels much heavier than one knit from a lofty yarn.  I expect it will be more wind resistant too.

I did find a big difference in how the Cormo yarn draped and fulled before and after blocking, so take the step to launder your gauge swatch.

Alcyone can be purchased as a part of the e-book on Ravelry and on Payhip. On January 5 the entire collection is $15. The price increases as patterns are added, ending with a selling price of $28.  It’s available in both English and Spanish.
