Apiaceae

For the first time since my surgery last Christmas I get to publish a design, and I’m proud of it. Apiaceae is that genus of plants with umbrella shaped flower clusters, like Queen Ann’s Lace, carrots and dill.  The structure of yokes reminded me of it.

Some friends on a design group discussed how many designers release patterns at the same time using the same stitch pattern by accident, what if we did it on purpose?  The variations in each design might say something about us as individuals, hence the name of the e-book, Identity.   There are 6 other patterns in the book, from 6 other designers.  Not only can you read about us as individuals, and see how we used the stitches differently, you can see how we chart designs and structure patterns differently, because each chapter is in our own style.

This is my first pattern available in both English and Spanish, because Marcela Chang translated it and all the rest even as helicopters circled overhead during the ongoing riots in Santiago, Chile.  I got lots of suggestions and tips to make it better, it was like taking a class that makes things come together.

I’ll write tomorrow (let’s make that soon, not tomorrow) about how my process and identity show up, but I need to get some homeschool organization in for November (it’s been November for a while!) My Mom just had emergency surgery yesterday and my college boy is at urgent care with my husband, so, onward, and prayer is appreciated.

  1. Love this: Not only can you read about us as individuals, and see how we used the stitches differently, you can see how we chart designs and structure patterns differently, because each chapter is in our own style.

I hadn’t thought of it that way until you said it! Always learning so much from you :-).
